Hi everyone
Does anyone have any tips/ ideas of how to come up with a book title? It took me ages to come up with the one I have 'damaged', I googled it and couldn't find many books with that title. But then someone told me it's actually quite a popular one, and a search on iBooks confirmed this. Now I'm back to the drawing board.
I didn't think it would be this hard to think of a title!
Thanks
The one-word title is catchy, but it's liable to have been used.
Could you involve the main character's name, or the place where it takes place?
Is there a phrase that stands out?
If in doubt, always check that no-one's been there first. Nothing worse than buying a book that isn't the one you thought it was.
Thanks Daphne,
Try looking up 'damaged' in a Thesaurus, there may be alternatives which will suit or in the dictionary definition.
Stop agonising over the title, write something entirely different, do something boringly repetitive like the ironing and an alternative may pop into your head. I'm on my third or possibly fourth, definitely last, title for a short story [SF] which turned up out of a song from Carousel which was on the telly several weeks ago, but didn't hit me as being at all relevant until yesterday.
It'll sort if you let it be.
