I'm a very mature student who has just completed my second year at a British university, studying creative writing. I have a message to anyone thinking of taking such a course; do your homework about the type of course you are considering! I've just examined year 3 in detail and it does very litle to build upon the work already done. It's a nightmare. 'm so unhappy I am going to take a year out and in that time apply to universities with a course that suits my requirements.
No didnt do enough homework plus much too much emphasis on the sort of employability I had no interest in after 35 years of corporate life. Forced to write a CV!!
Yep it pays to do your homework
That's a bit rubbish for you. I've often thought they don't tell you enough about the courses on UCAS or the uni websites. You are essentially signing away three years of your life based on a blurb! Although, I just applied to a masters in my day job and the course leader sent me the full module list with descriptions. It's a truly scary amount of work. Still, I guess I know what's coming. Good luck in your search for a new uni.
