I'm currently feasting on over cooked despondency with lashings of doubt, topped with self deprecation about my writing, and looking for a glimmer of hope that perhaps I can do it and it's worth persevering.
Please could you give me feedback on the piece which I submitted to the Bath Short Story Competition (not long listed) - The Face of a Life. I've posted it on my profile.
It's the 3rd competition submission I've not even touched the selected long list.
Much appreciated.
Excellent post, Frank. Will check it out.
Doors are still open for SHADOWS & LIGHT if you want to donate a story.
All the money from sales will be going to Women's Aid. They are a key national charity working to end domestic violence against women and children. This is an open call to any and all writers who wish to help out by donating a story to the project. What he is looking looking for is not necessarily stories about DV, they can be in any genre with a word count between 2000 words to a maximum of 6000, although the longer the better.

Well done for biting the bullet and entering, Katie. It shows there is a quality to your writing that shines through. To be in the top ten of 500 is an amazing feat and one to add to your writing CV. Looking at the short list and reading the wining entries, I would conclude that you must have had the right attributes to have succeeded and on another day with another judge who knows what could have been.
Next competition, here we come!
