Netbooks for novice writers

I am looking to buy a netbook for more portable writing- my current system is pen and paper and lots of mess! I am not sure which is the best one and what kind of programs would be good for a novice writer?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Its a minefield trying to advise anyone on buying any piece of modern equipment.

I will presume you mean a Laptop as Net-books are meant to connect and run programs in the Cloud/Internet while they run. Where as a Laptop can run without programs connecting to the Cloud/Internet.

Laptops come with more Ram. Which is memory and the more GB of Ram the merrier.

4GB is around the norm now. Just looking on PC world and they have some great deals

for Lenovo @ £299 4GB Ram and for Asus another good brand but their offer includes just 3GB Ram. This is the only hardware I would get extra warranty for. As if they break - they break big time. 3yrs if you can get it and save all your slips of paper. As for software all you need is Word if you buy into Microsoft. You can also download the free Open Office/LibreOffice which is the Free alternative version to Microsoft Office. You also can set-up a Gmail account and use their Google Docs. I use this a lot as it saves every edit on-line as part of its history. I also use LibreOffice and I have on my system RoughDraft and

Celtx both of which are free software. If you have any other questions just post and I will try and answer them.

No problem.

Also if you have a massive budget, you can also go for a Macbook Air... I'm currently saving up for one :)

Hi,

Brilliant thank you very much for your advice I will get searching now! I love pen and paper but it is becoming somewhat a mess and I need to reorganise my thoughts and my work!
