Seeking a bit of help with a vanishing publisher

Hi,

My first book was published in 2018. However, the publishers (name withheld) have since disappeared. There website is gone, there have been no recent posts on the usual social media suspects, etc. My book is still being sold under their name on Amazon, however I would like to re-publish with someone else if possible. I've read my contract and as far as I can tell the term of the contract was for two years (renewable by mutual agreement). I was hoping for some advice as to where I stand with approaching agents, etc. Also, how do I get it removed from Amazon.

Hi John,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you've experienced.

We aren't professionally trained to give legal advice, so I'd point you to the Society of Authors. They are a membership body and have legal experts to help with this sort of thing. It is a fee paying membership, however they do have free resources/guides to non-members also.

All of the information in this guide - Your rights when your publisher becomes insolvent - should include all of the advice you need for your situation.

All best,
