Hey!
Have any of you ever had a friend or a work mate who also writes, and knowing that you like to write, they like to make you feel as if you can't write at all and like to act as if they are something better than you?
I don't know what to do because this person is really effecting my writing and I feel too self conscious now to write at all because she always tries to make me feel as if I have no talent.... :( Any advice on how to deal with such a person?
Thanks! :)
Ignore them. They're either insecure or a trumpet-blower. I have a friend who has set up his own ghostwriting and self publishing business and likes to tell me in excrutiating detail how it's going. As Jonathan said, it's those with the least to say who like to make the most of it.
Aww, I'm glad you all got over your partners who are were mean and carried on writing and painting. I agreed with Victoria, she is probably insecure. I wouldn't show her stuff and as Adrian said you should put it on here instead. It is horrible having someone put your work down, but if you think how many people there are in the world and how many books there are, the % of how many people like a particular book is pretty damn low, just keep looking for the people who do appreciate it and take the criticism as constructive but as personal opinion.
Keep writing.
Hi Louise. That's 'orrible! Have you read any of her stuff? Could you critique her work? How is she reading your work? Maybe you need to stop letting her access your writing? Write about her!! Good luck! x
