Writing time

Seeing as writing is a very time consuming and somewhat anti-social occupation how do you make space for it without annoying partners/family? Do you just fit in bits & pieces around everyday life, or do you set aside a regular specific time when you're not to be disturbed and keep to it rigidly?

I write mostly on Saturdays and Sundays, especially in the evening till one or two o'clock in the morning. Guess, I a 'nocturnal creature' in some ways. Somehow or other, the mind works better from 11pm onwards.

When I'm writing there's no escape. Whatever I'm doing I continue writing, if only in my head ... even my dreams bring insights.

Errr ... I don't seem to notice annoying family / friends ... I'm too focused :)

I live on my own and don't socialise much. I prefer my own company most of the time. I write weekdays in the evenings and at weekends. To free up time, I do my chores and shopping as soon as the shops are open on a Saturday. I get most of my writing done on a Sunday. When I'm writing, I ignore family, the phone, e-mails and the doorbell if I don't recognise the person through the window.
