Writers & Artists is pleased to confirm that up to £4,000 of financial assistance has been made available for 2022 as part of our accessibility scheme, developed last year as a means of making sure opportunities are available to underrepresented and low-income writers and illustrators.
"It gave me such a boost because it meant that someone saw potential in my writing" Dawn Kelly
"I finally had the helpful feedback I needed on my submission materials." Joana Avi-Lorie
"I now feel like I am armed with all the tools needed to take the next steps in my journey." Bean Sawyer
This follows on from the success of our bursary scheme in 2021, which saw a total of 24 writers benefit from in-depth reviews of their manuscript, the chance to join weekly online writing courses, or the invaluable opportunity to receive feedback on their manuscript submission from a literary agent. In keeping with last year, the £4,000 made available will be used to offer bursary places across our full programme of writing courses and events, while financial assistance will also be made available on selected W&A editing services. Meanwhile each recipient of a W&A bursary will also receive one-year access to our Listings database of publishing industry contacts.
Please visit our Bursary Opportunities page for more information, including eligibility criteria and application details.
Writers & Artists: Accessible to All is available to view in full here, and if you would like to discuss our bursary initiative, work alongside us, or have a suggestion about ways we can improve things further, then please don't hesitate to contact us on AccessWA@bloomsbury.com
