Everywhere you turn, you're told that you need a literary agent - but, to a writer trying to get published, agents can seem like an elusive breed in an industry that can be difficult to understand.
Agony Agent is a unique service that enables writers to get answers to their questions directly from literary agents, either in the form of a message via our website or by booking a 15-minute phone or Skype audio call. This means bespoke, constructive criticism from a publishing industry expert at a fair price, and advice that will leave you with a better understanding of how to progress on your publishing journey.
Please note that service is not intended for you to directly submit your work to an agent. If you wish to do this, then please consult the submission guidelines in the Yearbook entry of the individual agency website.

- As part of our accessibility scheme, Writers & Artists are pleased to be able to offer financial assistance towards selected editing services. Please visit our bursaries page for further information about how to apply.
- Our 2023-24 bursary funding runs until the end of February 2024.
- Bursary applications for 2023-24 funding must be submitted by no later than 31st January 2024.
- Please note that payment instalment plans are available for all W&A events, writing courses and editing services. Contact W&A Admin on writersandartists@bloomsbury.com so that we can find a payment schedule that works for you.
