Flash is a wonderful little piece of fiction; jammed full of emotion, packed with depth, yet still weighing in at 500 words or less and written with exquisite accuracy.

The Amuse Bouche of Fiction

Flash is a wonderful little piece of fiction; jammed full of emotion, packed with depth, yet still weighing in at 500 words or less and written with exquisite accuracy.

This February we partnered with Vanessa Gebbie to get all of you talking about flash and we're delighted that so many of you joined us in our celebration of the tiniest literary form. We had 130+ entries to our flash fiction competition and choosing the winners was a tough job. Thankfully, Vanessa Gebbie is an expert in all things flash fiction and expertly judged the entries.

The winners are:

1st prize:

Battle Hymn of the American Republic Louis Malloy

2nd prize:

Going Nowhere Janet Webster

3rd prize:

Imagine Nicole Yatsonsky

Highly commended:

Where has the Spider Gone? John Mannone

A Writer's Room Julia Bohanna

Congratulations!

Winners will be emailed with details of their prize and a separate blog post will feature the winning entries.
