Speculative Fiction

As such, speculative fiction includes popular sub-genres such as Magical Realism, Surrealism, Fabulism, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopian, Steampunk and Fairytale. Angela Carter, Jules Verne, Margaret Atwood, Philip Pullman and Ursula K. Le Guin are authors of note within these sub-genres.
