I really enjoyed being invited to talk about 'How to get published' at the Winchester Writers' Conference again this year.

I was there when the sun was shining and the atmosphere was full of enthusiasm. I just love meeting writers, regardless of what stage they're at. Some writers come to my talks who are on the brink of submitting their work, others haven't even started but want a taster of the world they're hoping to be a part of.

Such a range of people really helps me get a feel of what it's like to sit on the writer's side of the fence - why people feel the need or desire to write and what their hopes and dreams are of making it into print.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it - meeting and talking to writers is my favourite part of my job. You do me the enormous favour of bringing my everyday work to life and providing me with total reassurance that the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook continues to do its job and do it well.

If you're interested I'll be talking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on 15 October 2010. I'll post more details soon.

Warm wishes, Jo
