Book recommendations

Hi everyone. Having a few weeks off from writing my ms so I can come back to it with fresh eyes. In the meantime I'm planning to read as much as I can. I usually read thriller/ chick lit although I do enjoy the classics too, and will read pretty much anything. Does anyone have any book suggestions? In particular anything which might help stretch my critical eye?

Thanks

I found "Evermore" by Casanova Da Vinci a very good book, at the moment it is only available in paperback. As the Author reveals the beginning, middle and end as a "Love Gained, Love lost, Tragedy", it makes for curiosity as to "How". A Romantic Drama set in a backdrop of modern day (!) Bohemian Style surroundings; a deliberate construction of mystery, love, betrayal and cultural fall.

"Evermore: The Bordello Tales" can be found in all bookstores, including Amazon.

Favourite book for adults: Woman On The Edge Of Time by Marge Piercy.

Tied with that for #1 in all categories: the 2 Alice books by Lewis Carroll.

Since you like thrillers, Iain Banks. I've just finished Complicity for the 2nd time.

I'm not sure what people mean by chick lit, but if you'd enjoy some feminist twists on classic fairytales, try http://jimmsfairytales.com Especially The Hand Of The Princess. (If you guess the ending, you'll be the 1st reader ever to do so.)

I enjoyed "Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend" by Matthew Green. A very easy-to-read book, written from the point of view of a child's imaginary friend. I thought it was original.
