can we have emoticons to add to our response/questions

I am on a few psychological forums where these little symbols are available and they do help with what can look like a very dry answer when it is meant to be funny etc

I would respectfully suggest that if you need emoticons or emphasis, perhaps choose different language rather then effects. I do find it rather jarring to read.

Jonathan, I object to your equating capital letters with shouting. Several of us have asked Admin MANY times if they could facilitate italics, boldface, and underlining. It's possible on shared works, so why not in replies and Qs???

You, yourself, have on occasion not been understood on this forum. Without facial expressions, clearly SOME kind of tool for indicating emphasis is necessary. Personally, I PREFER capital letters to *asterisks* around the stressed word(s). There's no pleasing everybody with the same usages. Each to her own...
