I have recently completed another manuscript and I'm getting quite bored with how many completed manuscripts I have on my computer and I'm wishing to get one published, yet I can't find an agent and I have 4 publishers interested however I heard bad they each have bad reputations (only discovered afterwards). I am hoping someone can direct me in the right path to hopefully get one published.
Try to search for agents in the W&A's Yearbook.
thanks people, the only reason I've truly been considering publishing is because my friend has been pushing me to do it (she's always reading my books and she's always nagging me for more), perhaps this is a path I may travel.
Thank you
Hi Victoria.
In my opinion, If you haven't been published before, it's difficult to get published by one of the major trade publishers, or accepted by an agent, unless your manuscript is quite special.
When I published my first manuscript, I settled for self publishing. It can cost, but the royalties are usually good. I get 51%. That's after printing and other costs have been paid. It works out at roughly 30% of the book cost. I haven't made a fortune, but I am on the way to recouping my initial outlay.
You might want to take a look at "Authors Online" website. They provide a wide range of services, as do some other similar companies. It may be possible to publish for free, if you are able to do some of the work yourself. I also know other people who have used "Lulu."
Publishing in E-Book format is becoming popular, and is very reasonably priced. There are numerous companies offering this service including "Book Baby" and "Createspace" to name just two. You could even do it yourself and sell it on Amazon.
I would urge you to think about getting published. It's a rewarding experience to see your work in print. Please except my comments as general advice only. The decision is yours. Hope my comments help.
