Magic beyond words

Have you ever watched "Magic Beyond Words"? It's a movie that tells the detailed history of J.K. Rowling's early life. It's - in my opinion - the best movie that people who wish to be published authors someday could watch. But now the following questions are aimed to who have already seen it.

* In any part of the movie, did you have the feeling that J.K.'s history was similar to yours at some point?

* Have you noticed Writers & Artists' Yearbook apparition during the movie?

If you know nothing about it, read this synopsis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Beyond_Words

I think that whenever you read or watch something that is intended to be biographical of your idol or someone succsessful in your field of work (in my case no one can get me to shut up about Tolkien) then I think you should take warning from any of their mistakes and inspiration from any of their good moves.

I think that their is no best movie to watch, or best book to read in general, but you will find a film or book that speaks to you individually and that is what is important.

Hi, Louise. I understand your point of view. But once you say something isn’t the *best*, I think you should point out which is your chosen one. As Christina just said “I can only presume that there will be similarities in most people's journey to getting published”. Besides, I couldn’t let aside the remarkable conviction with which you say “you're trying to find parallels where there are none”. About the similarities, I was reffering to things like the hard decision J.K. needed to take when she had to choose a profession. So… were you thinking I had an amazing dream at King’s Cross Station too? I’m sorry for not being clearer.

I love watching this, I have it recorded on my mums tivo box to re-watch when I lose my drive to write. But the things I think myself and J.K Rowling have in common from this film so far is being bullied, having a fail marriage, the want to write and the first book taking a long time to finish.
