Not very up to date or is it?

I'm trawling through the 2012 version of this fantastic book and find that some of the Publishers are either closing or not accepting submissions anymore. Do they really get that bombarded or is it a case of first come, first served? It is a tad misleading, because I am really going to try this time and feel rejected without even submitting anything!

know how you feel. i am a builder by trade and if i treated clients that asked me to price work up for them like agents treat hopeful writers i would have gone broke long ago. i have to do all my pricing up in any spare time i can find, its their job so why cant they be more helpful, understanding and less aloof. i am about to start on my second novel, i hope they become more human by the time i finish this one lol
