Paragraphs

I know that punctuation is downplayed a bit these days but I think that breaking the story into paragraphs is an important thing to do. I go for short ones - up to five sentences, taking a break when the scene, focus or thought changes. At that point there is a pause - a bit like and long full stop..

What do others think?

My paragraphs are of varying lengths. It's good to have a goal, but but the phrasing shouldn't become too formulaic. I've no idea why punctuation is downplayed. The only way a reader understands the way a characters speaks is through their pauses. It's one of your key tools in creating individualism in your characters.

I think you should have three full stops at the end rather than two.
