Publishing Offer

I would be really grateful for some advice regarding an offer I have received to publish my book. The publisher has offered to pay half the costs with 50% of the sales. Is this the norm now?  Not sure which route to take here: whether to send my script off to literary agents for further appraisal or go with the offer.

Hi Janie,
Just echoing what Tony and Janet have said. It is important that you do due diligence and research this publisher. Have they offered you a contract that outlines all of this? If not, it's important you ask for one before committing to anything.

You. I gut also check with someone else who has been published by them, someone you find on your own. Trying googling the company with the word reviews attached.

Janie,
I would advise caution. You need to check them out - especially their record. Some will take your money and give very little back in return. Have they said what the costs are and what they will actually do?
