The red banner at the top of the page

Not a question, just a piece of info. At the top of the page, there are various tabs which, if clicked on, reveal a lot more than you may think. Worth a look.

Also, there's an icon for the Bloomsbury Group on your screen, bottom right. Click on that and it takes you to their web page, which has details of who they are and where they are worldwide, as well as ads for their books.

There's more to this site than just the Community, but as is so often the case, most of us will never look beyond the forum. Look up!

Ah, perhaps I misunderstood your tone Lorraine. If that is the case I apologise.

How odd, it shows how much I misunderstand things. I always thought that you pressed thumbs up if you agreed with or if the comment somehow coincided one's thoughts. The thumbs down I thought was nothing more than if the view wasn't agreed with and nothing more than that. May I point out here that I have never pressed thumbs down on any post.

I do know how easy it is to get the wrong end of the stick when reading a post, I'm sure Jimmy won't mind my referring to a misunderstanding I had with him during a private conversation. I misunderstood the way something was worded and took great offence, I don't take offence easily so it was a BIG (not shouting) misunderstanding that could have stopped us being friends. However, Jimmy was big enough to accept my apology and my explanation and realised how my mistake was made. I know this is long winded and my point is... has this got out of hand, has this taking offence come from nothing more than a misunderstanding. I have found nothing but help here, I am not going to mention names as it may embarrass individuals. The red banner I will now click and use but I will always use this to ask questions anyway, I love the live feedback.

Regards, Paul

PS

I hope I haven't misunderstood the thread and got this all wrong. Paul

I'm not bothered if people give me the thumbs down if they disagree with any of my posts, or replies. I've not had to many in the 5.5 years that I have been using this site, and I rarely give a thumbs down.

Most thumbs down happen when discussing political subjects and minority groups. Sometimes the debates were related to writing, but at other times they weren't.

The worst situation was when there was a discussion about gay adoption - all hell broke loose, and the admins had to intervene. Recently, things got a little feisty regarding the refugee crisis, but that passed quickly.

I thought the discussion about book-banning was a healthy debate. People voiced firm opinions but it didn't get out of hand.

That's the way it should be.

I don't know how Jimmy and Lorraine got their thumbs downs, BUT THEY WEREN'T DESERVED. If they were genuine mis-clicks, then the people who gave them should say so, like I did many moons ago.

I have often posted what I believe to be useful information that isn't a question in, ASK A QUESTION, and I will continue to do so.

The most annoying thing to post in ASK A QUESTION is Shared Work. It's not a regular occurrence, but must annoy those, like myself, who have taken the time to ask a question.

But I've never seen a wrongly posted Shared Work given a thumbs down.
