I had an affair with a married man. Nothing unusual there. We held back as long as we could, making do with glances, touches, letters.
I was pregnant when we exchanged rings, his first wife wasn’t cast aside without a fight. But it couldn’t last, a man marrying his mistress creates a vacancy.
People look away as I climb the steps. Their whispering swells and ebbs like the sea.
A glint of sunshine flashes along the sword blade. I hope it’s sharp enough.
As my head falls I will have the last laugh. My daughter Elizabeth will rule an empire.

Love it. Am going to have a go at 100 word challenge. I also do 10 word challenges. Friends/family send 10 random words and I have to put them together into a piece of writing, blind, one at a time! I think exercises like this keep you in your toes. Please post more!
