Beer occasioned reflections upon the noble beetroot

Once upon a time there was a beetroot. This beetroot was a happy beetroot, because he had many friends with whom to play. Then, one day, he realised that sometimes, his friends went away and never came back. This made him sad. But then he thought that they must be going on to better things, like salad university or something.

Yet there came a time when one particular day intruded upon his happy conception of the world. Upon this day, his best beetroot friend vanished, without a word. He could not believe that this friend, with whom he had shared so many happy, incredibly beetrooty hours, would desert him without a word.

What could have occasioned this distressing lapse? He resolved to investigate the unusual occurrence.

Happily, he did not have to wait too long.

The very next day, someone removed him from the fridge. They then cut him up, all the while ignoring his screams of rage and pain, and ate him as part of a nutritious lunch.

The End.

Glad it raised a smile - drunken ramblings are good for something at least :D
