Receiving the news of testing positive for cancer infection is very devastating and heartbreaking. Right? It is like having an all-new death sentence in your hands, with limited options. Now, what about that feeling after receiving news that the cancer, perhaps after treatment, is no more? Isn’t it euphoric? But what’s next after surviving cancer? The treatment consumed a better part, if not all, of your finances and assets. You have to look for a job to provide for your needs, family needs and further medication. This is where another form of stress sets in. You are not sure what to do next. A lot of questions keep crossing your mind. Will I go back to my previous job? How will relate with my workmates? And should I find myself another job, what would it be? To answer all these questions, let me let you in on my life story. I am a living experience. I was once in this state and I am here to help guide you on some of the best works for you.
The life with cancer is one of the most stressful experience. I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was some of the worst news that I have received presumably since birth. I was devastated, frustrated and discouraged. What is more devastating is that by the time of the diagnosis, it was already in stage IV. And we all know what the next stage is, death. My family, friends, and doctors never tired pumping hope into me. My family went a step further to employ a personal cancer therapist to help guide me in the newly adopted lifestyle. The therapist would structure the preferred diet and the accompanying ingredients. Life was better and promising having the support and help from the therapist. This is an awesome piece of a job to do. Having had a first-hand experience overcoming cancer, you will positively impact the lives of cancers. Nothing is more fulfilling than the joy of making a positive impact on someone close to being hopeless with life.
But this didn’t seem to be enough. I still could not stop thinking about the next stage. Sometimes I was dull and sad. I could see no hope of overcoming the cancer. Especially when there was no significant improvement. Thoughts of giving up were close to taking control of me were it not for the various blog posts I read about a good number of cancer survivors. Including, of course, those who survived Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This restored my hope of overcoming the infection and probably getting back to the previous normal life. Through the blogs is where I learnt of new activities to overcoming cancer. I learnt of different diets and lifestyle for the cancers. This is a good job to get your nerves into, blog posting. Let people know your story and how you managed to overcome the disease. This way, you will also be instilling hope in them. An assurance of light at the end of the tunnel. Try to learn write essays or blog on your own.
Most cancer survivors tend to be protective and kind-hearted. I remember when I was trying to figure out what kind of work to do. I researched for other survivors and the works they got themselves engaged with after overcoming the cancer. Surprisingly, many prefer the work where their main role would involve leading, fostering, innovating, and impacting a positive change in the lives of different groups of people. Probably you would prefer the same too. They make life better and lively. Becoming a social worker is a perfect job that will suit your preferences. Through this work, you get an opportunity to meaningfully and intuitively relate to a variety of people. People with problems deciding what roles and careers to partake in life. Others faced with common life-changing decisions such as adoption or divorce. You would impart good decision-making skills in them through establishing a professional relationship with them. All this will help improve the quality of their life. They’ll put a smile on your face.
Lastly, but all the same important, is the work I currently do, which is teaching. They say, teaching is a noble course. Being a teacher gives you a one-on-one interaction with students. Students get to learn a lot of life lessons alongside normal studies. Lessons to do with their personal hygiene, discipline, and health in general. Making the students aware of the causes and effects of major diseases. Knowing the causes of the infections will help the students avoid them as much as possible. And, what is more, you get to mould the children to living healthy lives. If you really need make an impact on them, what better way than to do it from the roots of the classroom?
So, having cancer should not be a reason not to live a full life. If anything, it should be a stepping stone to make you live your life to the fullest. Get out today and live!
