Their life in Milwaukee was a good one. He was a good husband and a good father while he was working as an iron worker and was high on self-steam. Providing well for his family After a relocation to Michigan, he was involved in a head-on automobile collision. Suffering extensive bodily injury and brain damage After that, he could no longer work, losing his self-esteem. He underwent a dangerous personality change and became violent with his family and became an alcoholic as well, drinking constantly day and night.
Jean, his wife, suffered injuries as a result of his violence and sought help from the Michigan prosecutor but was denied. Her husband had lost his sense of manhood when he could no longer work and regained it only when he was assaulting his family members. Jean was asking him to leave the house till he could sober up. but he refused. She was standing at the threshold of the bedroom door with a small caliber rifle at her hip. John was seated on the bed five feet away. He had been threatening to kill the entire family and then commit suicide. When she had a riffle at her hip, he launch off the bed grabbing for the riffle when the shot was fired. killing him. Although she claimed for self-defense, she was charged with murder. The forensic people for the police concentrated only on the trajectory of the bullet on the inside of his body. never considering the primary trajectory of the bullet on its way to the body, which would support Jean's theory of the fact that he was on his feet grasping for the riffle. The trial attorney hired expert witnesses in ballistics, in psychiatry, and in psychology who came to the trial to testify. After a long trial, the jury acquitted her of murder but found her guilty of involuntary manslaughter. The judge sentenced her to six months to 15 years in a women’s prison. But she was released and allowed to return home after 40 days because of a failing heart condition. Upon arriving at her home, her 17-year-old son killed his own mother. She announces her presence in the kitchen, desiring a greeting from her son. The son, thereafter, while crying aloud, ran from the house carrying the rifle to a brush pile where he committed suicide.
