Set in the Victorian times, in the Prologue we learn about our main character, Johnathon Phillips. He lives alone with his mother. And due to a recent death, he promises to switch jobs from working in an orphanage to working for the Smyth family as a butler.
They hire a new employee at the same time as him, their maid Zelda. Johnathon falls for the youngest daughter who is vulnerable due to her boyfriend being away at sea. However, with a move that ends up being a mistake, Johnathon curses love and only finds that it uncovers the deepest secret of Zelda, the maid. It leaves him in a curse of his own and the only way to break the curse is to learn how to love again.
Johnathon thinks that he will be able to accomplish it due to finding a resembalnce to his first love, Rosetta, a girl in our generation who shares the same name.
