The Devil's Mine

by Elliott Allen
2nd August 2014

The tin mines of Cornwall preserve a centuries-old secret that will overturn the life of teenager Jack Tyack. Guided by mysterious voices and dream-drawings, Jack is drawn to visit the spectacular Crown Mines near the picturesque coastal town of St Just.

There he uncovers a historical family connection with a secret mining project. Continuing his investigation back home, Jack starts to uncover deep and dark truths about his parents' green energy business, truths that share a connection with the mines. But his visit to Cornwall has released forces that were dormant underground and as they pursue him his grip on reality begins to waver.

The mines assert their malevolent power, a power that affects all who come into contact with them. Increasingly obsessed by the strange fate of his ancestors, Jack embarks on a journey of inner discovery that reveals horrific secrets about his family and ends with the exposure of a plan that threatens to overturn the laws of nature itself.

I'm dying to know what this secret is...! Your story sounds like a physically and psychologically claustrophobic thriller. Have you written anything yet? If so, please share an extract with us.

Sounds interesting. Is it a planned book or one you've already written?
