Ferryhill: A Visual History is a comprehensive 362 page book comprised of a vast collection of over 450 images of Ferryhill: modern photographs, old postcards, maps, and other memorabilia, all chronicling and celebrating the extensive and vibrant history of Ferryhill, in the County of Durham. Some of these pictures within this book have not been published in full colour before and are very rare.

Including:

  • Archival images from Durham County Record Office, Durham University Archives, Lloyds Bank Archive, and many more.
  • Contributions from notable authors in the field of local history, including Anne Dixon, Geoff Wall, Bob Hall, Michael Chaplin, Steve Fielding, and more.
  • Biographical notes from historical figures of Ferryhill including the hero of Dean Bank: William Walton; John Lamb of Ferryhill Station; A.G. Gardner of Ferryhill Village, photographer; and the North East of England’s most celebrated poet and novelist, the late Sid Chaplin.
  • Historical murders of Ferryhill: the Brass Children’s murders in 1683, and the Lloyds Bank murder in 1928.
