The Light Of A Kingdom

The Light of a Kingdom.

Once upon a time, in land surrounded by great seas,

There was a Kingdom that had a lot of fears,

A woman was celebrated for being famous for sitting in a house whilst being watched by millions,

A man believed money was the cause of great power and success,

The children of the land didn’t care about their elders and would take what they thought was theirs,

The people of the land started to fight with each other,

Money started to run out and nobody looked out for each other,

A dark light hung in the air and the future looked bleak in the Kingdom.

Until a single flame landed on the isles,

The people of the land started to whisper to each other, hope rose,

Everyday heroes carried the flame,

Upon rivers, lakes and mountains,

In villages, towns and cities,

The dark light started to fade, as the people started to cheer and smile,

Nobody could hide, the flame shone brightly throughout the Kingdom.

On a summer’s eve, the flame was carried into a great stadium of light of every colour of the world,

From young to old, from every race and disability hope grew,

The people of the kingdom believed their history and what their ancestors had died for,

The flame was carried and a great cauldron of light burned in the kingdom,

The summer brought sunlight and the people of that kingdom started to shout for their athletes and a hope

built throughout that land,

A man ran the race of his life,

A Woman rowed the race of her life,

A Man fought a fight of his life,

A Woman swam the race of her life,

A Man cycled the race of his life,

A Team played the game of their lives,

Gold’s, silvers, bronzes were won,

The people of the land were proud of their own,

Flags were waved; Songs and Anthems were sung,

People from other countries were welcomed with open arms,

The flame was ever present throughout the land,

Once the end was upon, the light was burned out,

But the light carried on in people’s hearts,

And kingdom became united again.
