Here is an excerpt of a typical conversation I have with my mother…
Mother: Why does your room resemble a pigsty?
Me: Mum, I can’t help it! I have to take out things from my wardrobe and leave them out sometimes.
Mother: But you need to have minimum cleanliness! Can you explain why you prefer living like a mad monkey?
Me: Mum, I told you! I clean up and things come out on their own!
I can’t sit here all the time licking my floor till it shines!
Mother: Nobody is asking you to lick anything. If you begin licking your room, your tongue will die of shame!
Me: I am elated to hear about your concern towards me and my belongings. Can you please get me another glass of water, please?
Mother: Good heavens! Can you have some pity towards the maid and put back that half-eaten sandwich and eight different glasses of water? You are a hopeless cow!
Me: Oh come on! Will you stop comparing me with animals? Do I look like a zoo to you??
Mother: Oh yes! You do, young lady! You’d better take a shower before the cleaner thinks you’re a huge chunk of dirt and sweeps you too!
Me: Oh God! FINE! You win, mum! I’ll go away… And please, be polite enough not to scream into my eardrums the next time..!
Hmm, this isn't a story or a poem, just a conversation. You should try turning it into one of the either. :)
Dear Gayatri,
An adamant daughter and a persistent mother...good write. Girls these days are like this only. On those days no body can even imagine a story like this.
