School Bus

[School bus… no edit or re-read: draft]

Up front

wearing a broken home

like a broken arm

fighting boys

with my father’s face

and if not enough

I stole their girls

too

no time to read

to busy

watching my father

punching my mum

awaiting my turn

cowering

in corners and. Sanctuary –

given, unconditionally, by

elderly GRAND parents

Gerry at the back of the bus

little Love cherub [Teenage Fanclub]

holding Martin’s hand

in the hope that chaos

would fuck off…

they’s couldn’t giggle

‘cause I a passed

all the tests too…

The School Bus?

fuck that!

I was awaiting the bus

marked

‘Hollywood’

grabbing all I could

on the way through

Too much, too young

thankfully,

the prison bus

never turned up….
