Whistle On

The advice is out there everywhere

Pick whatever suits your needs for free

Take no notice should you choose to

Just leave the consequences to me

It’s your right I know I get it

It’s Your choice yourself to please

Leave the worry to the worried

And the consequences to me

You just focus on the here and now

Devil may care - what will be will be

Coz we’re all gonna live forever

Believing “this will never happen to me”

For I understand I have no right to

It’s not my choice to make clearly

When I’m older if I am lucky

Maybe one day I will see

That for you this overriding need

Was your absolute priority

No time for looking back now

It’s just where you had to be

But when it’s over and all Is said and done

We’ll all be wherever we will be

Just keep on whistling past the graveyard

And leave the consequences to me.

This is the third piece in my work inspired by the pandemic. Previously unshared anywhere else before. It speaks of the fear of losing someone because of their risky behaviour.
