advise of the draining first draft

Hi writers,

Today I decided to gather up some advise on getting through the first draft as I have started complete again and want to work harder to finish it. I will be thankful to whom ever answers.

Thanks writers

Totally agree with Susan - my first draft is far from perfect. I think the first draft has to be the warts and all version. My second draft is where I start to get things into some semblance of order, and also look at what each sentence is conveying. My third (and hopefully final) draft is where I make sure the whole thing flows.

The above works for me with short stories. I'm still on my third draft for my Children's novel.

Planning is probably a good idea (something I fail dismally at) so that you have a good sense of the direction you're heading in. Perhaps have a v brief breakdown of each chapter if possible.

Other than that, quite honestly I think the best advice for the very first draft is just to write everything down without worrying too much about it. Just to let the muddled story flow out without question or interruption so that the imagination has free rein. After that it's the hard work of tightening up, clarifying, spell checking, getting rid of inconsistencies & implausibilities etc

Patience, fortitude & persistence needed. Good luck1
