Hiya, I was recently picked up by a good, reputable independent agent who has 20 years in the business and has handled big accounts. He was really keen to get going on two books of five I presented to him and told me to go away and bash out 50,000 words in a month, which I did, as the project is time-sensitive and very commercial (i.e. someone else will write it soon if I don't).
So, I went away and did this. Communication through the process was great and feedback was positive. But now I've had radio silence for a month and I'm getting jumpy. He's got half the book, isn't returning my emails or calls and one of his other writers is reporting the same.
Should I ditch him and find a new agent? It's the first time I've had an agent and I was really excited and worked really hard, and now feel pretty gutted. Any ideas/thoughts much appreciated.
(I had an account and previously asked this question before but somehow my account got deleted so apologies for repeating myself)
Thanks in advance for your pearls of wisdom. xxx
I hope everything goes your way Vanessa and you find out what is going on.
Thanks chaps... Advice noted and appreciated. x
I hope that you have safely backed up the five books and can prove ownership. I would write to this agent and enquire about the delay. Tell him/her that if you do not receive a satisfactory reply in a few days, you will seek another agent.
