Am I the only one who feels like my books are my children?

No, I'm certain a LOT of writers feel that way. J K Rowling said herself in an interview that 'Harry Potter's my baby'.
When you write you get to know the characters so well, you create them, they are in your eyes 'life.' And you do tend to fall in love with them.
I believe if they are worthy of your love, then surely they are worthy of others, and maybe when your stories you love are out there, others will love them too.
