Are W&A conferences over-priced?

I would love to attend the Killer Fiction conference on September 10th but, at £149 plus a return train fare from Somerset plus a night and meal in a hotel, don't you think that's beyond the means of an aspiring novelist based in the provinces?

Please, W&A, spare a thought for people outside the Home Counties - there are more of us than you, after all.

Hi Simon, I have never been to one of these conferences and so I have no idea what you get from attending. I suppose it does depend on how much it would help your writing. The price for attending does seem a lot but as I have said I don't know what you get for your dosh. I can understand the potential problem with the other costs that you HAVE to incur so you can attend, it could end up with a £500 bill at the end of everything. Not a holiday really but sounds like it could be the same cost of a mini break!

The last part of your post made me smile, of course I took it completely out of context but I think you can't help doing that as someone who writes. "there are more of us than you, after all." It was reminiscent of our playground gang, there's more of us than you! sorry my mind always looks for the humour in things.
