I don't believe anyone received an acknowledgement email. By the sounds of things they have been inundated with submissions and as such have pushed the announcement of the shortlist/winners back until April.
I too submitted a short story. It's a great leap of faith when you hit the send button and wait and wait for the response to say 'Delivered'. I've checked my emails so often that I had to pretend I was looking for something else - an email from a friend, yet another voucher that I didn't want, plant sale notices, flight sales. and on. I had to pretend to take a vague interest in the last email before logging out just in case the announcement popped in to my inbox at the precise moment I was signing out. Sad really, I feel like a dog at the gate, waiting, watching and listening for the moment my owner, my lord and my master comes home to me. Yes, I'm writing in the meantime, but I'm waiting to hear back from potential agents. Notice the hope in that word 'potential'. We all now know that due to a wonderful response to the writing competition we all have to wait another month!!! Haven't we all got something better to do than to reduce everyone else's chances of winning? So we wait till mid April and nervously check our emails for a sniff of a familiar scent or a crunch of our master's foot on the gravel. Perhaps we could all write another short story for the 2013 competition while we're waiting! Maybe we should call it 'Waiting'?
Me too. I submitted a story and got no acknowledgment, even emailed to ask if they had received and got no response. Still wondering if my story every got there...
