The "Bible" of grammar and punctuation?

Can anyone tell me, please, what (if any) reference book or website editors use as the "Bible" of grammar and punctuation? I have heard the Chicago Style Manual cited by American editors and agents, but would like to know what to use over here. Thank you.

p.s. Lynden, my apologies - spelt your name incorrectly!

Hi Linden,

Hart's Rules: The Oxford Style guide is pretty much the go-to book if you want a comprehensive guide. The latest edition is 2014.

Simple and easy to use: John Seely's Oxford A-Z of Grammar and Punctuation. It's pocket sized, and contains everything the writer may need. The 2013 version is the latest. Always buy the newest version of any reference book.

There is also Fowler's Dictionary of Modern English Usage - very useful to have to hand as it explains far more than a standard dictionary.

Hope this helps.
