Does anyone have advice on how to write a blurb for a collection of short stories (or novelettes, in my case.) I've been reading loads of articles on book blurbs and get the general idea how to go about it - but nothing really applies to short stories. My novelettes are connected but otherwise vary wildly in theme, style and genre.
Thanks for your answers - they are all really useful! Will give that blurb another go......
Think about 1 or 2 'flagship' stories. Like music albums have 'singles' released and previewed, in order to promote the whole collection. Picking the two most unlike stories and showing the breadth of your repertoire may be an approach.
Best of luck!
Hello Susannah,
Try writing a few loglines or "hooks" for 2 or 3 of your novels. (28 words or less describing your story, to whetting the appetite of your reader), or perhaps write one that focuses on the diversity of your novelettes.
Also think about your target audience and your unique perspective and experience as an author which has enabled you to write these stories.
Hope this helps. They're just some suggestions... about to start battling with the blurb myself.
