Hi, I am new to Writers & Artists. Forgive me if this question has been asked before. I am working on an illustration book for children. Well, technically I am writing the story but I am looking for an illustrator. My contact at a publishing house liked the concept and asked me to prepare a proposal for the book. I did a lot of research, wrote down my proposal and submitted it to my contact. A few days back he called me up and informed me that my proposal was a bit too emotional, I have gone through great lengths to introduce my main character and that is unnecessary. I was wondering if there is a particular format I need to follow for a children's book proposal?
Hi, I am new to Writers and Artists. Forgive me if this question has been asked before. I am working on getting my book published. It is about a fantasy world named Rolamia and the characters are based on real people. I will be leaving school soon so I would like to be remembered. After 5 years of searching for a publisher I got one named Jessica Kingsley but was rejected. As much as it hurts me to say. Rolamia must be treasure forever with me especially since I was diagnosed with autism.
Thank you so much Kevin. I have been working on my proposal according to the advice my contact provided. Fingers crossed....
I'm not sure what the answer is but when submitting to an agency you are normally asked for a submission letter, a page long synopsis and the opening of your novel. It seems that you are fortunate to have a contact at a publishing house who is advising you on your book. Personally, I'd be talking to them as to what they want and, as long as it doesn't go against what I want for my story, I'd follow their advice.
