Should chapters be around the same length throughout the book and how long should they be for a young adult fiction?

Ol d best!
The chapters should have a story that may or may not tie a line with the hole idea
I always aim to have chapters of about 3000 words each (10 pages), but that's just how I plan a novel. 30 chapters, 90k words. They never end up a uniform length, because that depends on scene, like Adrian says. And I don't believe that's a problem, because a novel shouldn't always be a gentle cruise and varying chapter lengths help with both rough and calm stretches.
My longest chapter to date was more than double my norm at almost 6500 words and ended up a complete section. But I think it only worked because it jumped location, time and character set (bar one), serving as a bridge between the preceding and following parts of the book.
Well - that's my story and I'm sticking to it ;)
