Christmas Books

Are you buying or giving books to family and friends for Christmas?

I have already put aside books by Morpurgo and Creech for my nieces.

I suggested my wife might have 'Girl On A train' put by in Waterstones as we were trawling for possible present this week, Jus in case she was asked for suggestion by family members as to what Dad might like. I know it has mixed reviews, but I like to keep up with the what/Why of best sellers.

Incidentally, she (wife) is still reading Accordion Crimes by Annie Proulx, and I bought her that for christmas at least three years ago. That's what I call a slow reader. She still reports how much she is enjoying it, so that was good value wasn't it ?

Yes. If I had my way, the whole lot of them would get books, but some people just aren't into reading.

My daughter, who rarely reads, unfortunately, bought one of a long series of novels and actually finished it, so I got her the remainder. Hopefully I haven't over-booked her! And the missus likes Patricia Cornwell so that was an easy choice.

I'm getting worried I'll end up with none but I still have Peter Snow's 'To War with Wellington' on my dwindling TBR pile.
