Comedy thriller

I have a work of fiction which I've loosely labelled as 'comedy thriller' in an attempt to pigeon hole it. It's almost an Ealing comedy style caper, which will mean nothing to anyone under the age of fifty. I digress. Does anyone know of any literary agents I might submit my strange hybrid to? Have tried a few with no success as it falls between two stools. Any ideas?

Perhaps simply labelling it a comedy would be right. If you are searching for where you fit in the bookshop there is no need to make anything too specific. The main sections are Romance, Historical, Sci-fi, Comedy, Chick-Lit, Mystery, Saga etc. Muddying the waters with more than that means a shelf at the back somewhere.

You should have a clearer idea of theme, though. Think about what inspired you to write or if your story has a message or central question. It makes no difference to your publisher but helps to bind your book into something cohesive and readable. At least, that's the idea.

It's a full length novel, all 75,000 words of it.

When you say Ealing comedy, do you mean a play? If not is a short fiction or long? I would be tempted to go direct to the BBC with a short fiction in that style. I think it's radio four that still does short fiction radio stories.

If it's a novel you will have to find a way to catagorise it, even if it mean alterations. (Sorry!)
