Confessions of a mad writer

How far are you with your manuscript? Has anyone done first draft and felt confident that that's enough or are you on second, third, fourth draft?

Once your manuscript is complete... What's your intention? Are you going to ride the rocky road of rejection or Self publish or just pack it away and start another novel?

Remember there's only one today that follows many tomorrow's.

I completely agree with Jennifer.

I have also found that walking away from a work for a while can be a massive help to developing it to a better level.

My first edit is taking almost as long as the initial writing.

However, I find that my aim is becoming clearer in terms of what it is I want to achieve with the storyline, so this is forcing me to be very strict with the re-drafting/re-writing.

It's exhausting, and in the beginning I was really feeling down about it - the thought of all the work ahead was debilitating and I admit I dropped the book for a few months.

But now that I have some clarity, my sense of purpose has returned and I am (dare I say it) actually enjoying myself.

Once I have finished this edit, I will send it off for a professional to read. The first read through has shown me that my own critical faculties can be stretched just so far. I definitely need input from a profesional source.

What is this word "complete"?

Drafts? More like repeated squalls, gales and hurricanes...

"Rocky Road of Rejection"? Why go there? (Apart from the fact that it's aliterative). Head straight for the recognition of your outstanding brilliance.
