Disability in children books.

We are a small user lead disability charity called enhance the uk. We have written our first, in what we hope will be, a series of books about children who have different disability's..it is being called a community book as every fours pages have been illustrated by someone who is disabled themselves or who has a link to the charity including children. We now need some guidance on what we do next please?! Any advice very welcome. Thanks!

Hi Kate,

Many thanks for your reply. We have no money! But we are hoping to get some via some crowed funding and then yes good idea we will go ahead and do that we have god connections with Scope in fact.

Thanks again,

Jennie.

I hope you find a reply here from someone with practical knowhow in this area, but for now I have a few ideas.

If your charity already has some money to finance this project you could look into self-publishing (I don't mean the ebook kind, I mean self-financed paperbacks). Distribution to sell might be the trickier part but you could perhaps team up with other charities that are associated with broadly the same work that Enhance do (e.g. Scope?) and that have charity shops - ready made outlets - and you share the proceeds.

Best of luck with this project.
