I have compiled a list of 'clever', or as some people say, 'groan' jokes. There are over 1600 in total. I have been told over and over again from family and friends that I should get them published. My question is, do I need a Literary Agent to represent me or are there any Publishers out there that would be interested in this type of work?
Thank you Susan, you have confirmed my thoughts. Looks like the self-publish route then for me, else some of the jokes will not be topical !
The short answer is that you will have to work your way through a list of publishers and/or agents to see what areas they cover in and what they are willing to consider. Some will take unsolicited submissions but many will not, and each will have specific submission criteria to adhere to. It's usually slow going, sometimes taking up to 6 months for a response either way (if any). You can search on-line, subscribe to the Listings' service on this site, or buy a copy of Writers and Artists Yearbook. Alternatively you can self-publish. Good luck.
