Do you have a favourite place to write?

I sit in the comfort of an armchair with my laptop, and a cup of black coffee close at hand.

I may read a poem, or a few chapters of a novel to get my creative juices flowing.

Occasionally, I listen to classical music, but I mostly write and edit in silence.

Do you have a particular routine?

I do. I think that if you only write in one place, however, and then have to write somewhere else (say maybe because of decorating) that you might find it difficult to adjust. It was difficult for me to write elsewhere but I forced myself to do it. Now I can write in lots of different places. It is impossible for me to write unless I have peace and quite though so the summer is a challenge. I think it's easier to read during the summer instead. Sometimes I do warming up exercises but usually I find the story flows quickly in my head. Too quickly most of the time...

My favourite time is under my duvet, on the laptop, at around midnight ^_^ with coffee. Lots of Coffee.

Basically, anywhere comfortable where I have nothing else to do. Unfortunately, that rules out home, since housework has the detestable habit of piling up around me. On the plus side, it means I can write pretty much anywhere else, no matter how much noise there is or how many people.

I usually go for a walk, in any weather, and after an hour or so writing in my head, stop at the first table I meet, whether it be in a library, a coffee shop, a pub or even the occasional church and put it down on paper. And then I keep going...

I seldom manage to write anything on a computer. Re-writes and editing is fine, but for me nothing beats pen and paper if I want to create something new.

Which means I need a routine to type it all up afterwards: down the pub, with a pint and my tablet.

It works well for me, but it does mean I spend very little time at home.
