Do you intend to self-publish, or try to hook an agent and publish traditionally?
I’m not keen to self-publish, because there are many potential pitfalls with self-publishing.
How can you be certain that your manuscript is error-free?
I have already made a list of agents that deal in my genre. If I should fail to hook an agent, I will be guided by a professional literary editor’s advice.
Perhaps, I’ll use one or more of the services offered on this site.
I intend to approach both ways until I need to decide. I will go forth with the costless (financial not time) parts of self publishing whilst at the same time try to find an agent/publisher.
If all I get is rejections I will not be downhearted because I can always fall back on S/P.
If I do find an agent I can then decide then whether to go with them. I am hopeful that this is the less stressful way to proceed.
Jimmy, a noble project.
With me, it's the other way around (just now): I'm looking for authors to publish.
Although I'm a writer myself, recently I've been wearing 2 other caps: those of editor and of publisher.
My friend Hache put me in contact with a young woman who'd bought the Baby Shoes anthology. She'd had cancer at 16 and had written a children's book to help other children with cancer. As a former beneficiary of Make-a-Wish, she asked Hache if she knew of any agents/publishers who might be interested in the ms. Hache immediately thought of La Gr@not@, and - long story short - 3 days later here we are, having connected her with an illustrator, and everybody excited about the project.
