Do you intend to self-publish or use the traditional route to publish your novel?

I have always defended the traditional route, but I have not ruled out self-publishing, because the odds are so heavily stacked against the would-be author.

Hi

I self-publish and have only fleetingly entertained the idea of going through a traditional publisher. I like the control aspects of self-publishing and although it is true that the cost of the publication must been met out of my own pocket, I can choose which services to engage, picking what is best for me, at the price point I want, and when I want it.

I have recently been advised to avoid Amazon as many booksellers won't stock self-published books, particularly those by Amazon. This I can unfortunately agree with! Have a look at alternative self publishing routes if you are unable to secure an agent/publisher. Best of luck.

Hello Adrian, like you (I think) I want to give the traditional method a crack before having a go at S/P. You are an experienced writer and you know how hard it is to get the attention of an agent, let alone a publisher after they have asked for the full m/s but I think it should be every writers first port of call. At least we will have given it a go and who knows, even with a rejection we might just learn something.

But that's just me, I might be sooooooo wrong.

Regards Paul

PS good luck with all who are about to submit. P
