I was about 13 when I started, age doesn't matter. You've got imagination, creativity and skills? That's all that matter's, nothing else. And you never truly have to take other's to heart, just trust yourself and keep going, some fall day, you'll know who was right and who wasn't. :) Writing young is best, you get tons of practice, the more you write, the better you write, right?

No I don't agree, age is just a number, I wrote my first short story when I was just 11 yrs old and whole class including my teacher loved it.
Writing is abt Creativity and it doesn't come with age, what comes is experience. so read a lot and write a lot and prove them.
