Editing

How do you edit your story?

I've never edited a book before and I don't know how I'd go about doing it. So far I've been editing some punctuation and grammar mistakes but I don't know what to do next.

Any help?

Give some time between finishing the writing and editing it. If I leave my book for a month or so and then go back to it I tend to notice things I might not have before. Also let you friends or family read it. They'll point things out you might miss.

The list above is very complete. But don't underestimate the benefit of a fresh perspective. I would recommend leaving your manuscript for a while and coming back to it after having worked on something else.

Honest proofreaders would also help to highlight issues that writers might get blind to in their own work

Hi Charlie,

You should go far with a name like yours! Edit and enjoy it Charlie. I do. For me it is the best part of writing short stories. Tighten up the writing and leave out the flannel.
